2 Day Port Douglas Reef and Tropical Experience

Explore the oldest living rainforest in the world and the Great Barrier Reef – two fantastic world heritage listed locations on this Port Douglas Reef and Tropical Experience package

The first day will have you cruising to the Great Barrier Reef, departing from Port Douglas (Cairns transfers available at extra cost) visiting three sites on the very edge of the outer reef, allowing plenty of time to snorkel and (certified only) scuba dive.

This is your chance to experience a different world underwater, coming face to face with all types of marine life, and seeing a array of colourful coral.

The second day will take you up to the Daintree, where you will spend the day exploring different facets of this diverse tropical rainforest.

Spot crocodiles and other wildlife while floating down the Daintree river, take a guided boardwalk through the trees while learning about the ecosystem, have lunch in a picturesque private setting and much more.

Day 1 – Great Barrier Reef

The Port Douglas reef cruise is the perfect dive and snorkel day tour to the outer edge of The Great Barrier Reef!

On your Great Barrier Reef Port Douglas cruise you have the choice to snorkel and (certified) scuba dive at 3 sites on Agincourt Reef. Part of the world famous Ribbon Reefs, Agincourt Reef is on the outer edge of  the Great Barrier Reef.

During May to September the Port Douglas Great Reef Tour has a special permit allowing passengers to swim with the Dwarf Minke Whales if encountered.

Your Port Douglas Great Barrier Reef Tour departs from Marina Mirage in the heart of Port Douglas.

Please note there is NO introductory diving only Certified Diving on Poseidon

  • 1330 – Arrive at 3rd location & afternoon tea is served

Important Information

We have a passion to show you Australia’s Great Barrier Reef so please make sure you understand the scuba diving laws.

Queensland, Australia has some of the strictest scuba diving rules in the world  but also the safest scuba diving record.   We are regulated by the Queensland Government Code of Practice and comply with all rules including medical as is the law.

To avoid disappointment on your day of travel we strongly recommend that all of our passengers complete our dive medical questionnaire prior to booking as some medical conditions, age and / or medications may prevent you from scuba diving.   It is always our mission to provide our passengers with the very best Great Barrier Reef experience.

Flying after Scuba Diving

For a single no decompression scuba dive, you should not fly or go to altitude for at least 18 hours after a scuba dive.  For multiple dives you should not fly for 24 hours after your last dive. If Skydiving or Hot Air Ballooning you must wait 24 hours after your dive. We recommend waiting a minimum 24 hours whenever possible

**There is a $6.50 reef tax to pay on boarding

Day 2 – Daintree Rainforest

Experience the oldest living Rainforest on the planet on this Daintree Rainforest day tour

First you will travel along one of the most scenic coastal roads in Australia the Captain Cook Highway or otherwise known as Great Barrier Reef Drive to Port Doluglas.

Experience Wildlife Habitat in Port Douglas where you will join a guided tour and see the endangered cassowary and other wildlife with the opportunity to have your photo taken holding a koala, snake or crocodile (extra cost)

Next, you will drive 95kms of magnificent coastal rainforest and pristine tropical beaches stretching from Mossman to the Bloomfield River to Cape Tribulation which is the headland of the Daintree National Park.  This is where two UNESCO world heritage listed areas meet – the Daintree Rainforest Wetlands and Australia’s Great Barrier Reef.

  • 06:45 – Bus transfers commence from Cairns City accommodation
  • 0845 – Arrive at The Wildlife Habitat (Port Douglas)
  • 1100 – Cross Daintree River on cable-driven ferry
  • 1215 – Cape Trib Beach House for a Tropical Lunch
  • 1315 – Cape Tribulation Beach and Rainforest boardwalk
  • 1535 – Alexandra Lookout
  • 1600 – Depart north side of Daintree River Cruise
  • 1700 –  Depart South side of Daintree River Cruise
  • 1800 – Arrive Port Douglas Accommodation
  • 1900 – Arrive back to Cairns
